The weighty 4th Dimension wall clock stands out, thanks to an unusual material: concrete. Created by the Taiwanese industrial design firm 22designstudio, which also makes sculptural concrete rings and photo frames, the three-pound clock resembles a circular staircase with each hour represented by a miniature triangular step.
NOTE :
“I like concrete because it’s cheap,” said Sean Yu, who runs the studio with Yiting Cheng. “But through different processes, it can be very smooth and elegant.” The designers were also inspired by the minimalist concrete buildings of the Japanese architect Tadao Ando, Mr. Yu said, which typically have “a simple shape but a strong concept.”
