thank goodness…
CUPtopia’s staff is now in northern Minnesota…but, as always a little utopia was found along the way.
Lesson / Koan : Live on the edge.
Here is the info needed to find this gem…sitting on the edge of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota.
Starkey House, 2620 Greysolon Road East, Duluth, Minnesota
BTW,
The Starkey House was built in 1955…once again, Marcel Breuer was ahead of his time.
Also, the second owners of the Starkey House bought it in 1983, and still live there today.
As CUPtopia’s staff drove up to the house early on Sunday morning, they were welcomed inside for a personal tour.
Thank goodness the utopia Marcel Breuer created in the 1950′s is being taken care of very well.
NOTE :
Nice to know Breuer was quoted in TIME magazine saying the following…which sounds as if he also knew utopia was an idea to always keep alive.
“A house presents so many problems that the architect who can design one successfully can build anything.“

This is a great architectural design and its so good that places like this are being maintained well in the area.
